Trailblazers & Leaders: Nabilla Doma
Nabilla Doma | Head of Publicity & Culture | Hue Agency
How did you get into comms?
I kind of stumbled into it. My first love was social, which allowed me to see more of the brand side of the world. This then got me really interested in partnerships, communications, influencer marketing and media relations. I figured out that PR and communications were more up my alley, and decided to do that.
What does an average day look like?
Every day is different. Depends if I’m in the thick of it with a project or a client, or if a campaign is just wrapping up and it’s reporting time. An average day starts with me killing myself with a Chloe Ting workout. Then I delve into my emails and have a look at my to-do list (we use Asana for this). After that it could be anything from back to back meetings with my team and clients, press outreach, chasing emails, you name it.
What advice would you give your 21 year old self?
Keep doing what you’re doing. You’re about to gain a world of experience so enjoy it. Life will not go as planned and while you will internally freak out day in day out, stay strong in the fact that you are talented, skilled and have a commendable amount of passion.
What is the one thing you wish you’d known when you started working?
Working hard should not be the goal, always work smart baby!
What’s your greatest achievement to date?
Producing our very first podcast ad with one of my favourite podcasts for a major campaign.
Is there a particular comms campaign that you’ve seen in your career that you didn’t work on but wish you had?
I would have loved to work on the Bumble Black Love campaign for Black History Month. I think it’s such a lovely and important campaign, would have loved to even be a fly on the wall during the planning sessions.
What’s the key skill you think a successful business owner requires?
Good relationship building skills and discernment.
