Join us for 45 minutes with Debbie Ramsay Commissioning Editor within News and Current Affairs at Channel 4 and the launch editor for the youth strand, Untold, which focusses on original journalism for 16-34-year-olds across All4, YouTube, social media and Channel 4.
Previously she worked as a senior leader in BBC News in charge of commissioning original stories across the UK. The majority of her 16 years at the BBC was spent heading up a large team of journalists to provide news for the BBC's flagship multi-platform youth outlets – Radio 1 and 1Xtra and BBC iPlayer. As part of the BBC’s senior leadership team, Debbie made an impact, beyond her day job by working collaboratively with colleagues from other divisions helping to bring momentum to pan-organisational culture change with a view to making the BBC more agile, more diverse and more inclusive.
She was an advisor to the Director General’s Senior Executive Group and the BBC News Group Board enabling her to help influence and shape strategic decisions. Nurturing new talent is one of her passions so, as well as being a sponsor of the BBC’s Digital Journalism Apprenticeship scheme Debbie mentored and continues to mentor many journalists internally and externally. Outside of work she is vice chair of the Prison Radio Association Board of Trustees and an avid fan of fine dining and spas!
This online event is free, all are welcome.
The event will be moderated by UK BCN Head of Comms Addy Frederick.
